The subsidiary was licensed as a life insurance company in Benin in 1994.

2015 was marked by the entry of Groupe Atlantique with 51% of the subsidiary’s share capital, which officially became “Atlantique Assurances Bénin – Vie” (AAB-Vie). On October 17, 2024, AAB-Vie changed its name to AFG Assurances Bénin Vie.
